Enrichment and Socialization
We adhere to the puppy culture program for socialization and enrichment along with our own added wrinkles. We also use ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and ESI (Early Scent Introduction) from days 3 -16. We continue socialization programs with introductions to water, farm animals, cats, and a plethora of other experiences so that your puppy is as well rounded and acclimated to the world as possible when he leaves us to start his new life with you. We utilize the following enrichment methods: Scent introduction, socialized with children, socialized with other animals, introduced to people of different ages and appearances, socialized with other dogs, daily handling, surface & tactile stimulation, car rides, various sounds, neural stimulation, confidence building, and outside play. We encourage eye contact from an early age, start their general initial potty training, and begin basic manners. A puppies mind is like a tiny sponge and they are absorbing everything at a rapid pace and we don’t want to miss any opportunity feed that little Border Collie brain!
Please remember that we are not running a Border Collie puppy business. We both have full time jobs and raise Border Collies because we truly love the breed and want to spread and share healthy Border Collies with excellent temperaments, intuition, intelligence, and extraordinary athleticism with others who want the ultimate in K9 companionship. We genuinely enjoy raising baby borders, but that comes with the exorbitant cost of properly caring for our adult dog parents, constant vet visits for X-rays, ultra sounds, unexpected emergency procedures, and puppy visits for health screening and vaccinations) which all come with hefty costs. We only raise 2 litters a year and that could be 3 puppies or 15 (last year it was only 4 total). The exhaustive efforts required to raise amazing and well socialized puppies comes with cost to our personal time and energy and we do our best to make them affordable to those lucky enough to bring one home!
With that said, if you are just looking for an inexpensive pet or believe our prices are too high we totally understand, and are obviously not the right breeder for you. The local animal shelters and humane societies are great options for finding a great family pet.
But if your looking for a brilliant border collie puppy that was molded from day one through a tried and true process of ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation), ESI (Early Scent Introduction), and a gauntlet of socialization and planned experiences combined with guarantees against genetic health diseases that will increase the odds of a long, healthy, happy life with you and your family, you have come to the right place!
