Our Journey
We are a small Border Collie Breeder located in Ashford, Alabama in the Southeast corner of the state. We have owned and loved border collies for over 18 years. We currently have one Sire, Mojo, and two Dames (River and Luna) and plan to have one litter a year so that we can focus all of our energy and time on those puppies until they leave us to join their new homes. Our Border Collies are part of our family and though they have jobs around the farm, they live in our house with us, sleep next to us, and play with us everyday of their lives. We live on a small five acre homestead with a beautiful acre pond in our backyard and raise Nigerian Dwarf goats, produce farm fresh free-range eggs from a flock of about fifty chickens, and have the ideal location and environment to produce well rounded Border collie puppies that will be ready for whatever challenges they face once they leave the farm to join your family!
How did we come to love and learn about Border Collies and why are we passionate about sharing them with you?
About 18 years ago, we went to a local pet store, in search of a new addition to our family. There, amidst the vibrant chaos of wagging tails and playful barks, we noticed a precious sight: a tiny, white puppy with a black face and delicate black ticking all over his body. According to the sign, he was a Border Collie, a breed we knew very little about. Instantly, our hearts connected with this little fur ball, and we decided to name him Maximum Overdrive, or simply Max. Boy were we in for a surprise when he lived up to his name right out of the gate. We had both owned many different breeds of dogs during our life, but never had we encountered this much energy and intelligence in such a young dog. The first few months were a whirlwind as we learned to meet the challenges Max constantly presented us to keep him mentally and physically stimulated. Little did we know, Max would become an extraordinary presence in our lives, shaping our understanding of what it truly means to have a Border Collie as part of the family. Max possessed a brilliant mind and an unparalleled ability to learn anything we desired to teach him. His intelligence surpassed our expectations, and his unwavering loyalty and intuition, became an intrinsic part of our daily routines, a constant source of joy and companionship. However, Max's journey was not without its challenges. We now know and understand that he came from a puppy-mill and his genetics proved to be lacking. As he grew older, he began to experience the discomfort of hip dysplasia and joint pain, casting a shadow over his once vibrant spirit. By the time he reached the tender age of 11, Max had become nearly deaf and battled joint pain daily, a heartbreaking reminder of his vulnerability. Nevertheless, even through his physical suffering, Max taught us the importance of cherishing every moment and savoring the unconditional love that only a beloved k9 family member can provide. In the last year of Max’s life, we added our second Border Collie, River, from a reputable breeder who understood the importance of healthy bloodlines and genetics. We watched as Max patiently helped teach her some of the rules and routines of our home, and she adored him for it. Our time spent with Max forever transformed our lives and instilled in us a profound appreciation for the true essence of a Border Collie's presence. We have spent the last 18 years learning about this amazing breed, and now own three awesome Border Collies from excellent genetic heritage and bloodlines. We spent the last 4 years picking the perfect dames and a sire to begin a breeding program to share these amazing dogs with other families. Once you own a Border Collie, there is no turning back. They will challenge your understanding and knowledge of what you believed it meant to have a dog as part of your family. Their sharp intelligence, multitude of looks and colors, boundless energy, uncanny intuition, and unwavering loyalty are unmatched in the k9 world. We limit our litters to a minimum of one or two a year and we use Puppy Culture - Early Neural Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI for the first 16 days of life) along with a lot of individual love and attention to build a solid foundation for our puppies. They are introduced to cats, kids, goats, chickens and water to name a few experiences here on the farm. This gives our puppies the best possible start to a healthy, happy and productive life where they can then shine their awesome Border Collie light on you and your family.
